2019 US Mint Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Proof Silver Dollar


An original 1969 – 2019 USA Mint issued 50th Anniversary Commemorative Coin to celebrate the 1st Moon Landing, on the 20 July, by Apollo 11.

The 99.9 percent silver Dollar is the first United States coin with a proof finish, reeded edge, and curved shape. On the obverse: is featured the inscriptions MERCURY, GEMINI and APOLLO separated by phases of the Moon, and a footprint on the lunar surface. Additionally, there is 2019, IN GOD WE TRUST and LIBERTY. On the reverse there is the close-up of the famous ‘Buzz Aldrin on the Moon’ photograph taken July 20, 1969, that shows just the visor and part of the helmet of astronaut Buzz Aldrin. The reflection in Buzz Aldrin’s helmet includes astronaut Neil Armstrong, the United States flag, and the lunar lander. The inscription includes UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ONE DOLLAR and E PLURIBUS UNUM. The coin was produced by the Philadelphia Mint. The coin comes in a clear plastic container, within a fitted box and with a protective outer carton.
