c1930 Walker & Son Ships Commodore & Trident Marine Log

A finely made electrical ship's log made by Thomas Walker & Son Ltd of Birmingham during the 1930’s.

The set consists of a Walker's "Commodore" Electric Log which would be situated in the wheelhouse. This is now mounted on a circular wood plinth for hanging on a wall. There is also the Walker's "Cherub III" Ship Log, a mechanical counter that measures the ship's speed and distance. The propeller (impeller) connects by a rope to a wheel, which in turn connects to the ships log. All the items are made of brass and bronze, apart from the wheel, which appears to be galvanised steel

The set is complete and in very good condition (slight dent to the Commodore dial), although we have not been able to try it out to ascertain its working condition.
