Product Description

An elegant early 19th century English George III – George IV copper and brass Samovar, which is heavily influenced by the Adams design.

The body has a classical vase form, rising from a stepped square base which finishes in 4 foliate feet. There are 2 amphora style fixed copper handles for carrying. The top lid tapers in at the waist and is finished with a beautiful acanthus type finial. The brass spigot handle has an arched handle which finishes in a large glass bead. Inside the urn is a tube for placing a hot iron and, unusually, the lump of iron in order to keep the drink hot. The underside of the lid is tinned and has the impressed maker’s details : WILLIAM S. BURTON - 4 – 39 OXFORD STREET – 264. Condition is very good with minor small bruises to the body consistent with its age and use, but it retains a really good appearance.
