c1885 Victorian Pair of Cold Painted Americas Candlesticks

A pair of c1885 Victorian English or possibly French cold painted spelter figural candlesticks representing romanticised male and female Native Americans.

The candlesticks are in remarkably good condition, with the original paint still largely present and fresh. The figures are wearing short tunics, with decorated with strings of beads and painted pink and gold. Their skin is a warm copper colour. They both wear necklaces with bear teeth. Their headdress represents the famous American turkey painted in gold. They hold in their hand the candle sconce. The man’s hand has broken in the past, but has been repaired. They both stand on painted circular pedestal bases. Very attractive looking.
