WWII British Victory Bell from Luftwaffe Scrap Metal

Price:

Product Description

A nice original example of a Victory Bell that was cast from alloy salvaged from shot down Luftwaffe aircraft over Britain, during WWII and sold in the early post-war period to raise funds for RAF Benevolent charities.

The bell is made of aluminium alloy and features in relief Churchill, Stalin and Roosevelt and with Allied Forces Victory V to the handle. Generally, there is relief text around the bottom “Cast With Metal From German Aircraft Shot Down Over Britain 1939-1945 RAF Benevolent Fund.” However, there are several variants and this one without any text is actually quite rare. The bell was designed and cast (amongst others) by Conrad Parlanti, who belonged to a family of prominent bronze founders in London. Condition is very good. We have not polished it, in order to protect the original patina.

Size: 12 x 14.5 cm (4 ¾ x 5 ¾ inches)
