1914 China Republic Government 500 French Francs Bond


Authorised by the President of the Chinese Republic (Yuan Shikai, who would later declare himself Emperor), an Industrial Gold Bond loan certificate of 500 French Francs.

The total issue is for a loan of 150 Million FF which was destined for investment in the construction of the Port of Pukow, on the Yangtze Kiang, opposite Nanking, and improvements to the infrastructure of Peking (Beijing), namely Tramways, Electric Lighting and Water Supply, etc. The annual interest is of 5 percent, with a length of loan of 50 years. The certificate is numbered 118565.

The certificate has been framed and glazed and is in good condition.
