Product Description

A nice interesting and rare Hungarian Scouting group, dating from 1935 and consisting of badges and pennant, all related to the Fourth International Jamboree, held in Budapest, in 1933.

The badges consist of a brass metal and green enamelled Fleur de Lis with two symmetrical jumping white stags and ‘1933 JAMBOREE’ ABOVE THE Magyar royal crown. The reverse has a small safety pin that has been period resoldered. The second badge is a woven cotton jumping white stag with 1933 and JAMBOREE BUDAPEST – GODOLLO. The third item is a period pennant, somewhat faded, but again, with the emblem of the white stag and 1933 JAMBOREE. Condition of all 3 items is good.

The 4th World Scout Jamboree was a gathering of Boy Scouts from all over the world, which was hosted by Hungary and held from 2 to 13 August 1933. It was attended by 25,792 Scouts, representing 46 different nations and additional territories. It was the second-to-last Jamboree for the founder of Scouting, Robert Baden-Powell.

The white stag of Hungarian mythology was the national symbol of Hungary and the official badge of the Jamboree.
