c1810 Chinese White Metal and Glass Reading Spectacles

A very interesting pair of early to mid 19th century Chinese reading spectacles in very good condition.

The spectacles have a heavy nickel frame, which is double segmented and folds round the wearer's head. The lenses are circular and are made of polished graduated glass, which are attached inside the circular brass surround. The tabs should end in horn discs, but they are missing. They would presumably have had a silk cord to anchor the rather heavy spectacles on your face. This set is part of a collection of antique Georgian Chinese spectacles that we are selling and which are rarely seen outside museums.
