A beautiful Georgian, large Sterling Silver (925) Soup Ladle in very good to mint condition.
The ladle appears to have been stored for the last 200 years, given the lack of wear. It has an elegant, simple fiddle design, with an oval bowl. The back of the handle has the London Assay marks, with the date stamp of 1822, with the maker’s mark of the renowned silversmiths William Eley & William Fearn. There is also the stamp effigy of George IV. On the upper side of the handle is the original owner’s unusual family crest, with a pair of hairy paws holding a heart.
Size: 33 x 10 cm (13 x 4 inches)
Weight: 236 g
