A very attractive and well-made Victorian period Sterling Silver Vinaigrette in fine condition.
The rectangular case and hinged lid feature a delicate engraved finish, with a central cartouche. The cartouche, in the middle, is for engraving the owner’s initials. The inside of the lid and box are all stamped with the Birmingham Assay Mark, the bust of Queen Victoria and the date stamp indicating the year 1846. The maker’s marks are those of Edward Smith, of Howard Street, Birmingham. Thomas Simpson Jr, Newhall Street, Birmingham (Jan 1825)
