1896 Sterling Silver Galleried Tea Tray by Bradbury

£4,500.00

A beautiful large Victorian 1896 Sterling Silver (925) Galleried Tea Tray by Thomas Bradbury & Sons, of Sheffield.
The massive silver tray is rectangular with cut out corners, which makes it an irregular octagon. It stands on 8 bracketed feet at each corner, which are decorated with a scallop design. The tray has a raised gallery around its edge, which protects the contents carried from slipping off. The gallery has an Adams Revival look, with vertical pierced gallery sides, friezes and integral handles. The inside of the tray has very finely engraved decoration, again in the Georgian taste. The underside is stamped with the Sheffield silver assay mark, with the date letter 1896. It also has the maker’s mark for Thomas Bradbury & Sons Ltd, of Arundel Street, Sheffield. Condition is extremely good, without any damage or repairs.
