1863 Napoleon III Bronze Ring in Glass Trinket Case


An unusual French bronze wedding style D shape band ring, that is marked on the inside with the details of Napoleon III.

It comes inside a gilded bronze and glass trinket box, on a burgundy velvet cloth. The inside reads: NAPOLEON III EMPEREUR 1863. The inside inscription has been gilded. These rings occasionally turn up with dates ranging from 1861 to 1864. Their origin is not clear. The National Museum of the Legion d’Honneur, believes they were given as a present from the emperor for services to the State and dated accordingly. Condition of both the ring and trinket box is good. Width of the ring is 4.8 mm.
