Product Description

A rare, totally original Roman Catholic Saint’s Relic, that has been preserved inside an oval silver plated locket, with a glass front.

The relic, which a fragment of a white veil, has been mounted on a piece of crimson cloth. Small paper labels are attached with printed: ‘ex vel. Alb. S. Rosae V.’ The locket opens up to show on the inside reverse a red wax religious seal, with the emblem of Saint Rosa of Viterbo holding a cross. The seal holds together a cord that ensures the inside remains intact and access to the relic cannot be achieved without breaking it. The cord and seal are intact. The locket is numbered 22. The relic is part of 3 items that we are selling that belonged to Archbishop Michele Federici (1911 – 1980). He was the Archbishop of Santa Severina in Calabria and died tragically in the earthquake of Irpinia, near Castelgrande.

Saint Rosa of Viterbo (1233- 1251) Born in the Papal States. Despite her short life, she became famous for her mystical gift of foretelling the future and having miraculous powers. She was canonised in 1457 by Pope Innocent IV. She is generally represented as a young woman, all in white, holding a cross and surrounded by flames.
