c1900 Imperial Russian Nicholas II Presentation Easter Egg


A very scarce c1900 Imperial Russian porcelain Easter Egg bearing the cypher of Czar Nicholas II and given by him as Easter presents to friends and family.
The egg was made by the Imperial Porcelain Factory, in Saint Petersburg. The front of the egg is decorated with a varicolor gold ciselé Imperial cypher of the Emperor Nicholas II beneath the Imperial crown on white porcelain. The egg has 2 holes and a hollow interior through which its original silk bowed hanging strap fits. The edge of the top hole has been finished in gilt and the hole at the bottom has a painted letter R. Condition is superb, with just a bit of age toning to the silk. Usually, these eggs were hung under religious icons.
