A beautifully made tea caddy, dating from late in the reign of King George III.
Mainly of mahogany, the tea caddy is inlaid with rosewood, ebony and satinwood banding around its edges. The interior consists of two removable tea compartments, unequal in size. The finial is of carved ivory and has been capped with a small piece of silver. Around the keyhole, an ivory escutcheon has been attached.
The condition of the tea caddy is predominantly good, though a corner section of the banding has been damaged. Additionally, the felt underside has frayed and the finial has loosened slightly.
Size: 23.8 x 15 x 13.5cm
Weight: 1864g
