c1900 Art Nouveau Marquetry Jardiniere Stand by Emile Galle


A beautiful carved walnut with marquetry wood inlay Jardiniere Stand by the iconic genius Emile Galle.

The jardinière stand is in an Art Nouveau style, but the arches of the legs are slightly reminiscent of Gothic architecture. The top tier has a decoration in fruitwood of flowers and butterflies and is signed Galle. The condition of the stand is very good, without any damage or repairs.

Emile Gallé (1846-1904) was a French glass maker, ceramist and furniture designer and a prominent artist from this period. His work is highly desired and mostly seen in museums, today. The Victoria & Albert Museum in London has an important collection. He was born in Nancy, France, and is considered one of the most outstanding glass artists of his time, as he greatly contributed to the development of the art of glassmaking and to the Art Nouveau Style.
