1994 Beryl Cook Fuchsia Fairies Signed Limited Edition Print 461

A very fine, mint condition, signed Beryl Cook print titled ‘Fuchsia Fairies’, published in 1994 and numbered 461/650.

The print bears Beryl Cook’s pencil signature and the details of ‘Alexander Gallery Publication Ltd., Bristol, England’, who became Beryl Cook’s publisher in 1977.

Of this painting Beryl Cook noted: “My son found a handsome firescreen for me at a boot sale. I decided it was an ideal size for a fairy picture for my granddaughter Sophie, and as she is very fond of the pair-of-hands vase we bought from a market stall I used it to hold the fuchsias from the garden. I don’t often paint flowers –it’s mostly great big green leaves that I like – but these aren’t bad, are they? ”.

Beryl Cook was a Plymouth artist famed for her representations of plump extroverted women. Her distinctive, comic style is hugely popular, making this a desirable piece for any enthusiast.
