2003 Beryl Cook Framed Manipulators Signed AP Print

An iconic and rare Artist’s Proof signed silk screen lithograph print by the World famous Plymouth artist Beryl Cook (1926 - 2008).

It is numbered 43/60 and signed in pencil by the artist. The picture is titled ‘Manipulators’ and depicts a dance club, with a group of men and women dancing in the background. In the foreground is a table with 2 seated men leering at a woman who is joining them. However, probably the most iconic image of this painting is the couple dancing in the middle. It is a small man whose head has partly disappeared into his larger partner’s bust, as she holds him tightly. Beryl Cook's is nearly always a 'tongue in cheek' critique of Plymouth life, but with an element of warmth and humour. Her characters are always portrayed on the voluptuous side.

The print run was limited to a small run of 300 examples. The Artist’s Proof run was just 60 and this is numbered 43, which being a low number is more desirable. The condition of the framed, mounted and glazed picture is extremely good.
