Product Description

Artist: D.R. Abercrombie
Title: Study of Lemons
Medium: Charcoal (and Graphite) on Paper
Date: c1880

This adept study of lemons by the completely unknown D.R. Abercrombie was reportedly drawn in the 1880s and is a testament to the many obscure talents that passed through the Royal College of Art.

Nothing at all can be found of D.R. Abercrombie, which might suggest that she was a female student, who might have married early and changed names.

The drawing bears the “ESK” (examinded South Kensington) blind stamp. The Royal College of Art had a campus in South Kensington as early as 1857 , and was therefore often informally known as the School of South Kensington.
