Product Description

An original WWII British, large size, cartoon artwork by HH HARRIS, depicting a British private with two white rabbits down his leg front pocket being admonished by his Sergeant.

The picture is painted in India ink with highlights in white paint or pastel. The picture has the punchline written underneath in capitals with the swearword substituted for "blue pencil". The is because Army Censors would use blue pencil to cross out anything deemed unsuitable or of military importance from soldiers letters home.

This on one of two pictures we are offering from this artist, Framed and Glazed.
The Artist, well known of the period, developed the "pyjama man" campaign for Bovril as well as Illustrating Wills cigarette cards.
