1917 British Inspired Gouache Watercolour Painting by H D Ching

A very unusual traditional Europe country lake scene, that has been given a very Oriental style, by the painter H. D. Ching.

The quite large painting is a gouache watercolour of lake with two small boats, with hills in the background. There is a whitewashed house in the middle distance and a western woman walking along the path by the shore. The whole picture has a detailed but naïve look and is definitely in the Chinese style, whilst touching such a traditional western subject. The painting is signed H. D. Ching and dated 1917.

The painting has been nicely mounted, framed and glazed, and is in good condition.
