Product Description

A sought after, hand embellished giclee on canvas limited edition print titled ‘Twilight on the Seine I’ (2010), by Howard Berhens.

The picture shows a view of the river Seine in Paris, with the Eiffel Tower in the background. The name ‘twilight’ is important as it was the last set of pictures by Behrens before he died of illness. The colours are very vivid and it is a picture you have to view, for a while, before you begin to appreciate it. The picture has been nicely mounted and framed. It is numbered 61 from a small edition of 295 and comes with its certificate of authenticity from the Princess Cruises Art Gallery and is dated 2011. It was produced by the Harvest Productions, Anaheim, California. The purchase price, at the time, was £750. Since his death, his prices have doubled.

Howard Chesner Behrens (1933 – 2014) was an American popular artist, whose original works of art are sold in fine art galleries, at auction on cruise ships, etc. Behrens' limited and open editions are sold internationally. Behrens was also one of the top-selling artists on Princess Cruises. He was born in Chicago, grew up near Washington, DC and began drawing at the age of seventeen, after being confined to bed following an accident. He studied art at the University of Maryland, College Park, where he earned a master's degree in painting and sculpture. Behrens was hired by the United States Government Printing Office and worked there for the next seventeen years. Behrens resided in Potomac, Maryland and died in 2014 after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.

If ever there was a composer of colour, it is Howard Behrens, a brilliant painter who has emerged among a sea of artists to become the preeminent modern master of the palette knife and an incomparable translator of colour.
