c1970 Salvador Dali Signed Nus Volants et Guitariste Lithograph

A beautiful and very tastefully framed Salvador Dali numbered Artist’s Proof Etching and dry-point Lithograph print with hand-colouring by the artist.

The lithograph, dating from around 1970, is titled ‘Nus Volants et Guitariste’ (Flying Nudes and Guitarist). The normal run of prints were limited to 250 examples, but this is an Artist’s Proof and is numbered XV/XL (15/40), which makes much rarer and desirable. It is hand signed Dali on the bottom right. The lithograph shows a reclining guitar player above two naked dancing women. The hand coloured proof that was produced on special Japanese paper before the stencilled edition of 250 on white Rives paper.

Salvador Dalí was perhaps the most broadly known member of the Surrealist movement of the early twentieth century. Heavily influenced by Sigmund Freud, the avant-garde style explored consciousness and dream-like states through exaggerated landscapes and bizarre or grotesque imagery. Using the means of painting, sculpture, printmaking, film and literature, Dalí explored these ideas with a meticulous hand and inventive wit.
