Product Description

A beautiful framed limited edition lithograph of Salvador Dali’s The Virgin of Guadalupe (La Vierge de Guadalupe).

The handmade colour lithograph is made from zinc plates and is numbered 131/300. It was produced at the IMAGE Workshop in Paris. It shows the Virgin Mary and the Infant Jesus backed by a large yellow halo, ascending over a desert landscape. The lithograph is in good condition and has been attractively mounted, framed and glazed. It is hand signed by Dali in black crayon.

Salvador Dalí was perhaps the most broadly known member of the Surrealist movement of the early twentieth century. Heavily influenced by Sigmund Freud, the avant-garde style explored consciousness and dream-like states through exaggerated landscapes and bizarre or grotesque imagery. Using the means of painting, sculpture, printmaking, film and literature, Dalí explored these ideas with a meticulous hand and inventive wit.

Our Lady of Guadalupe (Spanish: Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe), also known as the Virgin of Guadalupe, is a Catholic title of the Blessed Virgin Mary associated with a Marian apparition and a venerated image enshrined within the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City. The basilica is the most visited Catholic pilgrimage site in the world, and the world's third most-visited sacred site.
