Product Description

A rare and beautifully illustrated First Edition little children’s book that was published in 1817.

The book is a series of moralistic advice to children and has a number of hand coloured images of children. The book self describes itself as ‘USEFUL LESSONS for Little Misses & Masters’.

It was published in London by J. (possibly I.) Harris, Corner of St Paul’s Church Yard. It was printed by E. Hemsted, Great New Street, Gough Square.

Condition is poor to fair. The book has lost some 9 pages near the front. The first page numbered after is 19. The book is named to Harriet Francis Tims (She appears to have died in Quebec, Canada, in 1857). The book should have 80 pages. There are also 17 of the 22 coloured plates. The spine has perished and the covers are loose. However, given the size and the fact that these books were read to destruction, it is not surprising.

Size: 10.5 x 13.5 x 1 cm (4 1/8 x 5 x 3/8 inches)
