1830 Jones Views of Wales Collection of Parts Issue Magazines

£300.00

A collection of c1830 Jones’s VIEWS IN WALES, comprising 1 to 56 numbers (1 missing) of ‘parts issue’ magazines, that were published monthly from 1830, by Jones & Co, of Temple of the Muses, Finsbury Square, London.

They are decorated with the Prince of Wales ICH DIEN Plume of Feathers and described as containing the most Picturesque and Beautiful Scenery in that Romantic Country, unequalled in Europe. Each issue contains Four engraved steel printed images by Henry Gastineau (1791-1876). It was meant to run to ‘About Twenty Numbers’, but obviously continued long after that. Condition varies, with Number 1 and 56, being the worst as they have been the top and bottom of the pile for many years. However, given their age, they are in remarkable condition, with little or no foxing.
