1873 USA Original Toledo Wabash & Western Railway Co Wall Map

£1,800.00

An impressive, very rare, 1873 USA Original framed and glazed large wall map of THE SHORT LINE – Missouri, Kansas, Texas, Colorado AND THE PACIFIC COAST, for the TOLEDO WABASH AND WESTERN RAILWAY – AND PRINCIPAL CONNECTIONS 1873.
The map is coloured and shows the main Railway Lines and the towns in the different States. The map gives information on transfers, Pullman Sleeping Carriages and lists the name of the General Passenger Agent W.L. MALCOLM and Vice President A. ANDERSON. The latter must have been a very recent appointee, as his name has been added with a small paper sticker. The map has been printed by the Cincinnati Lithograph company Ehrgott & Krebs. The scale of the map is not stated and we have not been able to find another example of it, either in collections or for sale. A rough measure of the distance between Fort Wayne and Toledo gives a scale of 1/16,000,000. The western edge of the map ends at Sioux City, in Iowa. Condition is very good, with a few small foxing marks.
