A very nice condition set of Winston Churchill’s 6 volume masterpiece ‘ The Second World War’.

The volumes comprise of:

1. Volume I: THE GATHERING STORM 1948 Cassell & Co. Ltd
2. Volume II: THEIR FINEST HOUR 1949 Cassell & Co. Ltd
3. Volume III: THE GRAND ALLIANCE 1950 Cassell & Co. Ltd
4. Volume IV: THE HINGE OF FATE 1951 Cassell & Co. Ltd
5. Volume V: CLOSING THE RING 1952 Cassell & Co. Ltd
6. Volume VI: TRIUMPH & TRAGEDY 1954 Cassell & Co. Ltd

All the books are in very clean, unread condition, complete with their dustjackets. The inside maps and diagrams are all present in perfect condition. The dustjackets are also in extremely good condition, except for volume VI, which has a couple of small tears at the top front. The black cloth covers are nice and fresh, with bright gilt lettering on the spine. The volumes are very lightly toned on the outside edges and the top edges retain the red dye, except Vol.6 which is darker red. The books are in excellent condition.

As the winner of the Nobel Prize in 1953, Churchill's monumental book on World War II is a straightforward and detailed account of the events, both military and political, of the largest and deadliest conflict in history, made even more poignant by Churchill’s very close involvement in it.
