A nice copy of the 1832 part leatherbound book DEVONSHIRE & CORNWALL ILLUSTRATED FROM ORIGINAL DRAWINGS BY THOMAS ALLOM, W.H. BARTLETT, ETC. WITH HISTORICAL AND TOPOGRAPHICAL DESCRIPTIONS BY J. BRITTON & E.W. BRAYLEY – LONDON – FISHER, FISHER & JACKSON, NEWGATE STREET – MDCCCXXXII.

The book effectively is the combination of 2 books DEVONSHIRE ILLUSTRATED and CORNWALL ILLUSTRATED, each containing a series of attractive engraved vignette views of Devon and Cornwall, with a text explanation of the history of the location. There are 98 for Devon and 47 for Cornwall. The book is contemporary half tan calf on marbled paper-laid boards (calf corners), spine gilt ruled in five compartments with 2 gilt lettered labels on compartment 2 and 4. On the inside there is a bit of staining and discoloration, at the beginning of the book. The frontispiece is the map of Devon, with that of Cornwall around the middle of the book, when it becomes Cornwall Illustrated. Other than that the book is in good condition, without minor wear and fraying to the extremities.
