1964 The Beatles FOR SALE LP Record First Crossover A Variant


A really fine and rare, near mint condition of an early First Pressing Variant A of The Beatles ‘Beatles for Sale’ Long Play Record by Parlophone.

he 33 1/3 rpm album cover shows the 4 Beatles, wrapped against the cold. With the code PMC1240, it was released on the 4th December, 1964, in Mono by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. It has a laminated gatefold with inside flipback sleeve, with outline “mono” on front cover. As the first crossover of the pressing the record has the black label with yellow logo and silver print, with the variant A label: The Parlophone Co. Ltd. printed at the start perimeter print, Recording first published 1964, Sold in U.K. subject…, the title ‘The Beatles’ band name appears on both sides of the label in small script. The label has the KT tax code in relief next to the central hole on the 1 side. The matrix numbers are Side 1: XEX 503-4N; Side 2: XEX 504-3N. The Emitex inside sleeve has been substituted for a period advertising sleeve, from the Atlantic Catalogue.
