1848 Gothic Style Stoneware Jug with Silver Lid

An unusual and attractive Gothic style stoneware jug with a Silver edge and lid.

The jug is decorated with a classical religious scene. The base rests on six bracket feet, one of which shows damage, and has the makers mark of T&R Boote. It also has the Registration mark for 17 October 1848.

The Sterling Silver will have been a later addition as it carries the Hallmarks for London 1901 with the maker mark for Holland, Aldwinkle and Slater.
