Product Description

A very nice looking Ladies’ Brooch mounted with a Victorian Gold Sovereign in the centre.

The sovereign coin has the 2 type head of Queen Victoria and is made of 22 carat gold (916) and weighs 8 g. The coin is dated 1882 and has on the reverse Benedetto Pistrucci's ‘St George slaying the Dragon’ design. The brooch shows the dragon side at the front. The Sovereign has been set in a beautifully crafted 9 carat (375) yellow gold setting, with a classic chain safety clasp. The reverse has the Hallmark stamp for Chester, with the date stamp for 1887. The makers marks are those of William J Pellow Ltd, of Birmingham. The brooch is in excellent condition showing only minute scratching and scuffing to the setting.
