c1900 French Art Nouveau Buckle & Elasticated Silk Satin Belt


A beautiful Art Nouveau silver plated and green cabochon 2 piece belt buckle, complete with a black satin silk braided elasticated belt.
The buckle is made of silverplated copper and chain belt. Each part is cast with a pierced openwork design of pierced openwork design of interlaced arabesques in stylised fronds. The buckle is further decorated with applied metal bosses and green jade-like glass cabochons. The front surface is very detailed with millegrain edging. The belt buckle is not maker marked but is very similar to buckles by the renowned French maker Piel Freres, which are very sought after. The belt is an elaborate braiding of black silk satin, which is slightly elasticated. Condition is very good.
