1984 Mappin & Webb 9ct Gold Gents Wristwatch

A c1984, 9 carat (375) gold quartz watch from Royal Warrant Holders Mappin & Webb, that was given as a retirement present to an employee of British Rail.

This rare and collectable piece, despite being a quartz movement, has 7 jewels which reduce friction and wear, lengthening the life of a watch. Featuring an oyster-coloured dial incorporating a date feature at 3 o’clock, with fine gold hands, seconds hand and batons indicating the hours. The face is marked Mappin & Webb QUARTZ and SWISS MADE. It is set in a cushioned circular case with gently convex crystal, grown-on lugs and original gadrooned crown. The underside is engraved: BRITISH RAIL – A. DARKE – IN APPRECIATION OF 35 YEARS SERVICE 1986. The watch has a black strap.

The watch has been serviced and is in good working order. The watch comes in its original Mappin & Webb case, and has its guarantee certificate.
