Product Description

A beautiful looking and fine working condition early 1950s Omega Stopwatch/Chronometer, complete with its original cardboard case.

The watch has a chromed brass body and a stainless steel movement. The white face has a large minute dial, but divided into 100. There is a smaller inner dial that measures subsequent minutes, up to half an hour. The watch has the Omega logo and the agents details PRESTONS LTD BLACKPOOL. The keyless winder acts also as the reset button, when depressed. There is a slide button on the topside, which starts and stops the Chronometer.

To open the back, there is an outer and inner cover. In the inside, the mechanism is stamped OMEGA SWISS 7 JEWELS, with a serial number 1582589 and 9300.

The red cardboard box is marked OMEGA on the front and PRESTONS LTD BLACKPOOL. Prestons of the Strand, Blackpool, Lancashire was an official Omega agent and was probably best known for its supply of stop watches. There are some very evocative full page adverts by Prestons from the 1950s and ‘60s featuring racing cars and speed boats, all promoting Omega stop watches like the one here.
