Product Description

A USA made P13 Bayonet that was made by the Remington Arms Company for the British during the WWI.

They were supplied to fit the P14 rifles, also supplied by the US government, at a time when Britain did not have sufficient stocks of Lee Enfields (SMLE). The rifles were reissued during WWII to second line forces, including the famous Home Guard. This is definitely a Home Guard issue, as it has impressed marks on the pommel EX 493. This refers to Exeter (in Devon) Home Guard, with the issue number. Whereas regimental marks on bayonets are not uncommon, it is very unusual and rare to find one for Home Guard units.

The blade is marked with the Remington logo on the ricasso under the Pattern number 1913 and the fabrication date 2 16 (February 916). The other side is stamped with a pair of inspection stamps and a broad arrow. The blade is in good order, but has been sharpened. The grips are complete and undamaged. The steel fittings have old age toning from light rust. Nice bayonet.
