An impressive looking, late Victorian c1880 Nepalese very large ceremonial Kukri in very good condition.
The sword is basically a very large version of a traditional Kukri, with the addition of brass crossguard. The curved blade measures 49 cm (19 ¼ inches) and retains a keen sharpened edge, with brown metal finish. The blade is very clean with minimal spotting and oxidisation. The handle is made of hard wood, with a steel pommel. The wood has been decorated with inlaid bone discs. The brown scabbard is made of wood without the traditional leather covering. The wood has been decorated with a series of incised geometric designs that fan out along the surface. the traditional leather over wood and very lightly decorated with a few indented lines. The scabbard is missing its little skinning knife and sharpening steel.
