Product Description

A fine original WWII German Army pioneers wood saw in good condition, complete with its black leather scabbard.

The straight steel blade has a slanted oval wooden handle painted in grey-green. The blade remains quite bright steel with a bit of spotting. The handle is held in place by means of 2 screw head bolts. It does not have any maker’s details. The accompanying leather scabbard is still in excellent shape, being equipped with a built-in belt loop at the top. The leather is kept rigid by a steel inner armature. There is an additional loop in the centre of the sheathe to slide the scabbard of the K98 bayonet, so they hand neatly. The reverse of the scabbard is stamped ‘fuq 1942’, which is the factory code for Curt Vogel Leathermakers, Cottbus. 1942 is the date of manufacture.

The leather has the faint outline of ‘Paint Shop’ written on it. It was picked up during the War and continued in use, in a British workshop. This can be easily removed if desired.

Nice rare and desirable item.
