An unusual French Infantry Officer's Sword, similar to the English 1796 pattern, but with the ubiquitous Revolutionary bonnet on the pommel of the Sans Culottes.
The sword has a plain blade which is quite blackened with age. The cross guard is a clam shell style with braided twist wire handle. The pommel bonnet has laurels and flower decoration.
This style of sword must have existed for a short while, being superseded by the Napoleonic styles.
Sword Length: 93cm
Blade Length: 78cm
Weight: 476g
