Product Description

A fine quality studio portrait signed photograph of the leader of the German Luftwaffe Airforce Hermann Göring, from 1938.

The photograph is by Sandau of Berlin and shows Göring in his uniform of Generaloberst (Colonel General) and is hand signed by him, 'Hermann Göring' in red crayon. The photograph was a present to Direktor Berg of the NSDAP, in Munich. The portrait photo comes with a letter presenting it to him and is signed by The Ministry Director Doctor Gritzbach and dated 4 February, 1938. This was possibly the last photo to be presented in the rank of Generaloberst, as on exactly that day, Hitler promoted Göring to the rank of Generalfeldmarschall (General Field Marshal) of the Luftwaffe.

Dr Erich Gritzbach was an SS Fuhrer that was transferred to the Prussian State Service in 1932. He rose to Chief of the Ministerial Office of the Reich Commissioner. He became Hermann Göring's right hand man, whilst the latter was Minister President of Prussia.

Both the letter and the photograph are in very good condition and are mounted back-to-back in a glazed frame.
