Product Description

A nice condition example of the Princess Mary Tin that was given to British and Commonwealth troops, during the first Christmas of WWI.

The gilded brass tins or cases have the image of Princess Mary, with the letter M on either side, above CHRISTMAS 1914. The edge decoration has the names of the British Allies in WWI. The gilding is nearly completely intact, which is rare, as often they have been used as trinket boxes and heavily polished.

More surprising is the fact that one of the original two packets of cigarettes is still present. The recipient has left his last remaining cigarette unsmoked. The packet has ‘HER ROYAL HIGHNESS THE PRINCESS MARY’S CHRISTMAS FUND 1914’.
