Product Description

A beautiful condition WWII German Army Photograph Album to a Stabsgefreiter (Corporal) in the 25 Infantry Regiment.

The photo album covers, according to the inside cover, the period of service of 02.11.1937 to 23.08.1945 with the 5 company. However, the dates must refer to the total military service, as the photos seem to stop during the invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941. The chronology follows the owner, from his time in the DAF, to his military barracks, the invasion of Poland, France and the Soviet Union. There are photos of the soldiers in uniforms, with the early shoulder boards with 25. There are also photos of military hardware and the wooden crosses with details of the fallen. Condition is very good. There are 100 photos. The outside cover is in black imitation crocodile skin, with a large embossed silver eagle and ‘Infanterie Regiment 25’ in silver gothic script.

The 25th Infantry Division was a military unit of the German Wehrmacht. It was later reclassified to 25th Infantry Division (mot.), and in June 1943 to the 25th Panzer Grenadier Division. It fought in the central sector of the Eastern front from June 1943 to July 1944. It was destroyed in the encirclement east of Minsk and reformed in October 1944. It then fought in Western Europe between October 1944 and January 1945 and in eastern Germany January to May 1945. Most of the survivors of the division surrendered to the western Allies.
