The leather is the military standard brown and includes the front and back caps with loops for a leather carrying strap. The first draw tube is engraved on one side with the maker’s details: BROADHURST CLARKSON & CO. – 63 FARRINGDON ROAD – LONDON E.C.. On the other side of the draw tube is the name of the retailer: Supplied by H. SALANSON & CO. LTD. – BRISTOL & CARDIFF. The optics are nice and clear and provide good magnification. The front has a sliding lens hood, protecting the 48mm lens.

Broadhurst went into partnership with Clarkson, in 1892, but split up after a falling out in 1908. However, he kept the name Clarkson, given that he had an established reputation. The company continued producing quality optics until the 1960s.
