WWII British Boxed G353AH 7 X 50 Naval Turret Gunsight

A near mint example of a c1945 British Boxed Warship Turret Gun Prismatic Gunsight.
The gunsight is made of brass and green painted gunmetal and is stamped 7 X 50 MONOCULAR GUNSIGHT PATT G353AH by ROSS LONDON No. 121679 W A/T with a B and broad arrow mark. The gunsight has a coated lens, with a field of 7 degrees and comes with a large wrap-around sponge-rubber eye-shield. It has lever focusing, and the metal body had a green slightly crackle finish. The eye-lens is pretty large and has a cross-line graticule. Apparently it has Porro Type inside prisms, with a cemented field lens. We believe the gunsight dates from before 1948, as after that Ross merged Barnet Ensign Ltd. The gunsight comes with its fitted wooden box, with the different fittings. The inside of the box lid is marked ‘Y Turret’. The top of the lid has the title of the gunsight stencilled in black paint. On the side of the box is written the stores number 110-106-700 and G 353 A.H.. The box has a leather strap with a buckle clasp. The condition, as mentioned before, is near mint, except that the lock lugs have been cut to open it (ironically, the key is still inside)
