Product Description

An extremely rare WWII period German Luftwaffe 25 X105 Doppelfernrohr aircraft identification and general observation binoculars, together with a tripod stand.

The binoculars are massive and very heavy. They have an angled viewer with individual focussing rings on each lens and a different colour filters changed by an adjustor wheel. There is also another adjustor wheel for the binocular lens length separation, to match the distance between to user eyes. The optics are clear and taking plenty of light and all the adjustor wheels work well.

Because of the size of the apparatus, there is a smaller aiming telescopic scope mounted on top to facilitate positioning. The binoculars are painted black. There is a small rectangular label plate on the top. It has the details of the binoculars and the factory code kqc. This corresponds to J Schneider & Co. Optische Werke K-G, Gottingen. These codes were created by the Germans to make Allied targeting of War production factories more difficult but they date the optics to after 1941. The factory production number is 2608.

The tripod support is of post-war construction and was made so that the binoculars could be used. There is an adustment arm that allows it to move vertically and the cradle rotates around a central axis. The tripod legs have been fitted with castors for ease of movement.
