18th Century English Made Gentleman’s Pellet Crossbow

A beautiful example of an 18th century Gentleman’s Pellet Crossbow

Pellet Crossbows became popular in rural Britain during the late 18th / early 19th century and were used primarily for hunting small game and recreation. This example has a hand carved walnut stock, with steel fittings. The trigger system does not appear to be working at present, but aside from that, the condition is very good with no rust to the metal or wear to the wood. There are no maker’s marks, but the crossbow is beautifully made, with the style and construction suggesting it is English.
