WWII German Deutsche Arbeit Front DAF Flag Top Finial

An impressive looking original Pre-war or early WWII Flag Pole Top Finial that would have been used by the Deutsche Arbeit Front (German Work Front).

It is a large, fine quality nickel piece, which determines that it is of an early manufacture. It consists of a running Swastika surrounded by a cogged wheel. The swastika has a has incised hatching and a stylised fleur de lis at the base. The threaded rod that would have fastened the finial to the flag pole is undamaged. Overall condition is extremely good.

The DAF was the quasi-military German Labour union organization during the Third Reich, to assist in building and defense works. Young men transferred to the DAF, for service, from the Hitler Youth, before eventually joining the German Army. As with all other military, civil, political and paramilitary uniformed organizations in existence during the Third Reich, the DAF had their own flags and standards as part of their organizational regalia, which were carried in parades and rallies.
