Product Description

An attractive and well-made George III period Sterling Silver Vinaigrette.

The hinged Lid features a chased border showing a rectangular trellis decoration around a rectangular cartouche, with the name Jane. The vinaigrette has lopped edges and the interior is gilded and the hinged grill features a pierced diamond engraved pattern.

The underside of the lid is stamped with the Birmingham Assay Mark, the bust of George III and the date stamp indicating the year 1812. The maker’s marks are those of Robert Mitchell & Co., (late of Pemberton & Son) of Snow Hill, Birmingham. Condition is very good, with a bit of wear to the outside decoration.
