An attractive and well-made George III period Sterling Silver Vinaigrette.

The hinged Lid features a chased border showing an oakleaf and acorn pattern around a rectangular cartouche. The edges of the lid and base are decorated with a gold coloured metal border. The interior is gilded and the hinged grill features a lovely pierced and engraved pattern.

Both the base and underside of the lid are stamped with the Birmingham Assay Mark and the date stamp indicates the year 1814. The maker’s marks are those of William Lea & Co. Condition is very good, with a bit of wear to the outside decoration.
