Product Description

A very pretty and fine quality George IV and Victorian Sterling silver and Mother of Pearl handled dessert cutlery.

This consists of 6 knives and forks but it would have originally had only 4 of each that were made by Thomas Sanson of Sheffield in 1821. In 1838 the owners approached the same company, it was by then called William Sanson (presumably the son) and they supplied exact forks and knives to expand the set to 6. Interestingly, the Hallmark still has the head of William IV, even though he had died by then and Queen Victoria had ascended the throne. The crown is, however, the new Queen's crown.

All of the cutlery is engraved HC. The condition is very good, nearly as new.

Fork Length: 15.2cm (6 inches)
Knife Length: 19cm (7 1/2 inches)
Weight: 430g
